What are we?

Breakfast All Day is a photography studio which uses the historic analog process known as tintype. Using portable darkrooms, artistic optimism, mysterious chemicals, and tireless ingenuity, we specialize in natural light photos as well as studio portraiture.

Why tintype?

Tintype is one of the first photographic techniques. A thin sheet of metal is coated in a light-sensitive emulsion, exposed inside a camera, then developed and fixed while still wet. It is a unique and demanding process which results in a highly durable, heirloom-quality item that is irreplicable and has inherent handmade qualities. We are drawn to the link this process offers to the brave experimenters of the past and the curious investigators of the future. We marvel at the crispness and detail the method affords as well as the otherworldly artifacts which sometimes appear. In short, we are in love.

Who are we?

We are Dirt and Ruby Seago. Dirt has been practicing tintype for almost 10 years after first learning it from AgNO3 Lab in Maine. He loves the impossible art of portraiture, as well as seeking out and exposing the boundaries between work and play, chaos and order, silver and shadow which surround us all. Ruby is the tech wizard, social media guy, and general muse of the operations. She loves the creative process and being the point person for markets, fairs, customers, and lovers of analog photography.
